As I mentioned to a few of you, I applied for a grant from the Dept of Natural History to help in construction of my siege engines. Basically, I spend 5 hours online reading about the process from grants.gov Wrote a short( 2 page) proposal up, and sent it in. Was informed that I will be awarded $52000 to build them. The monet is spread over 12 months, comes to $4166 per month. So, starting in December when the money is scheduled to come, I will begin building 2 onagers, 2 half-size trebs and 3-4 scorpios. I have to document the construction process, and show that I am "teaching" somebody, so Ive got all my nieces and nephews set for photo opps. Then Ill throw up a web page to keep track of it. Seriously, there is FREE monet for this kinda stuff. goto www.grants.gov spend a few hours reading and apply. Maeth can even apply as a group, "medieval re-enactment society" or such. hehe.......now, if I can figure a way to get the gov to pay my credit card debt off....

Do you need a construction assistant? I'll be around from December to the begining of May. Heck not having to buy the gear to build them myself is enough to make me drool.
And when you say "half size" trebs how big do you mean?

So, starting in December when the money is scheduled to come, I will begin building ...the prototype I had finished has been recycled. Apparently, I needed to make the front steps of my house safe to go down instead of "playing around"...according to the wife...who is in charge....

current status:
still on hold. have 3 smaller sized demos finished and played with, have the measurements all worked out on the larger scale. But this being July, Im not even thinking about it much. July-Sept are my "health" months. where I spend 80% of the months in or near the hospital getting various stuff done. Everyone congradulate me on the 24th for my annual colonoscopy....yay.....

i think the most useful thing for us will be the scorpio but the best for the historical side will be the trebs
