Greetings!
This is a really fun event. This event is hosted by my local SCA group. It is laid back, low key, and a lot of fun. Akuragano is creating and preparing a feast that pirates would have eaten in the carribean ports of call. Seats for feast is limited, so you really do need to pre-register. I'll post that info as soon as it is available. You can also check out the web page www.stswithinsbog.org/canton/springthing.htm

.... Long ago in the Barony of St. Swithin's Bog, upon a section of land once called the Western Border, a tradition began known as Spring Thing at which the Barony and all her family and friends gathered to dispel the winter's cobwebs and celebrate the return of Spring! Join us for the 10th Annual Spring Thing Event hosted by the Canton of Westland Mor!
Spring Thing : A Pirate's Life
Saturday, June 20, 2009
11:00 am - 11:00 pm
Yo Ho, Mateys! Make sail for the marshy shores of the Canton of the Westland Mor. The quartermaster (under the Captain's directions, of course) has hoisted the flag signalling to all, pirates and land-lovers alike, that they are welcome to attend the 10th annual Spring Thing "A Pirate's Life" at the Flax Scutching Grounds (no street address, Stahlstown PA 15687). Join the Canton on Saturday, June 20, 2009, for a day of good food, jolly tournaments, and friendly company. The festivities shall begin at 11 am and end 'round about 11 pm. Your captain shall be Lady Caitilin ni Mhaolchonaire and her quartermaster is Kelly.
We hope to provide the traditional tournaments and competitions in heavy weapons, fencing, archery, thrown weapons, brewing, bardic and Arts & Sciences. Plus, where there be pirates, there is sure to be treasure to hunt!
The Barony of St. Swithin's Bog and the Canton of Westland Mor are proud to present the Cattail Choraliers, who will perform a few Renaissance and Pirate songs for yer entertainment.
Ye need not fear what nasty ship's food might await ye at this event. Cook, Lord Gareth Craig, and his Crumb Bosun, Lady Elizabeth (Rose) Thorne, have promised a hearty sideboard and a New World Caribbean feast fit for a king or queen... or they'll walk the plank!!!
Due to the late hour of the event, on-site camping is permitted. The site is very limited (no showers, and only porta-johns). There are also several hotels in the neighboring areas of Donegal, Ligonier and Latrobe.
More information will be posted very soon!!!
