i think it does. And if you don't do it right you can feel the dap through the side of the sword and it can get really hard.

Yeah, you can kind of feel it on the one side of my sword.

I've thought about it and a thin piece of foam and some duct tape would probably fix that problem. I'll take a look at it sometime and see what i'd actually say. I still need to get my graphite sword up to weight. It's a bit too light... like 2.5 oz. too light. But i just need to wrap the handle and it'll be fine.
While DAP works on our foam, you do have to sand it (the blue walmart foam) just take a light sand paper grade and go over the foam side you are applying the DAP to. HOWEVER, this makes the foam no longer water proof so it sucks up more water and becomes worse to fight with in the snow.
NEVER EVER use liquid nails. Its heavy and dries to the point it feels like core. Also it doesn't bond with the foam.

Some of them lasted ages, others fell apart during the tests. I'm just not a fan of the liquid nails. Do you remember that liquid nail/duct tape monstrosity the one katie made?

Nopers, My sword is made with dap and it doesn't hurt even when swung pretty hard, of corse if you get it on the outside of the weapon....

yeah Dap is fine, unless you accidentally get it on the outside of the sword or some comes through the sides. Other than that its much better than liquid nails and tends to hodl up better in colder weather than carpet tape. I just don't like the extra work going into it.
BTW: my sword is officially 12.3 oz.

fiberglass is the way to go for strength and to keep it light, but if you know how and I saw a lot of good new articles about it, you can bend PVC and make cool curved weapons... I have learned and saw a different way to make sword too... its a lot like my old duct tape weapons design... and it is lighter and padded better and suppose to last longer... only time will tell

Sigh... Unfortunately Bram that's the only true test of any weapon design... It makes me sad but you can't ever really find just the "best" design. I hope the method you found will work. From what I can figure it may take less foam to make and should make a more solid sword (like the old duct tape ones).
I enjoy curved weapons (they're just harder to cover) I like seeing unique weapons on the field. I'm tired of seeing the same old same old. But, you gotta go with that works!!!
