Woooaaah there! I’ve been a bit busy lately with work and what not so I haven’t been on the boards. Today I’ve been notified of some sort of “shit storm” and I find this. It’s not that bad and it’s nothing that we can’t solve without a bit of elbow grease, luck and optimism. This is going to be long so stick with me:
Let’s start with Vors:
I think what happened with Vors is crazy, I’d never do something like that, but man, he’s gotta get some credit for fighting Rog in some kind of twisted dag-first blood. And because it was premeditated and agreed upon we haven’t decided to punish him. I was mad, Nova and lucius were mad, but we decided to do nothing. However, we can’t let him fight until he’s medically cleared. It’s in the Dag waiver that he can’t sign it if he knows there are conditions that would threaten his well being more-so by fighting Dag. It’s not something I like pulling on people but we’ve had to do it. Nova doesn’t fight because of it, (if Vors wanted to arch sure!) and we had to tell Starr (if anyone remembers him) that he can’t fight because of medical reasons as well. It’s hard, it’s not an easy job to do telling someone they can’t fight because of a bad choice, accident or genetics but because it’s what is best for them and the realm it has to happen.
As for how things have been going:
Yes, I appointed Nova and Lucius, I really didn’t know of anyone else who was interested or would be able to take the time and be an admin. I didn’t lie to anyone, I found out probably last that Nicky and Liza stepped down, so if I had answered a question about that, it was absent-mindedly and I wasn’t fully informed.
I didn’t know that possibly other people wanted to have positions in the realm. And there is always ways that we can bring that about to get more involvement.
My dream of admins in Maeth has always been the same, we sit down with officers that are elected and listen to what they have to say. If it makes sense and goes in a good direction they can do whatever they want. If not, we can choose to veto the idea and ask them to re-think. It’s easier for you to have admins that oversee and then officers that actually decide. Kind of like Nova was going with the two groups of admins, but in a way not.
Right now, Nova, Lucius and I all have the same pull in voting and no one has been taking the reigns and making up rules. We threw out some ideas, maybe Nova didn’t make it sound quite right but it was just an idea we thought would be good and safe.
Safety, playability, and realism is the dag mantra and that’s what we are working for. Keeping Maeth the safest realm that we can and still having fun doing it. I really want to know who the people doing the complaining are, it doesn’t help if you keep yourselves hiding in the shadows and never tell anyone about it. We are seriously interested in your opinions and are willing to work with you.
If this entire discussion isn’t proof of that I’m not sure what is. So far with Nova and Lucius great ideas have been thrown around and there has been a lot of excitement for future events. And I’m afraid that this kind of problem is going to really hamper progress for the future events, as you all know the October event is not far off, and the Winter Event needs planning to start ASAP.
Now, I understand that it’s important to keep people in the know, but decisions do have to get made. For example if we find a new place for the Winter Event and move on it because of availability constraints we can’t always let people know or else we may lose the opportunity.
There is not such thing in maeth as a power trip, because power never really works here. It’s been displayed over and over again. Every time someone disagrees with someone it actually does change. If a vote is what needs to happen then we can vote, my suggestion is more of moving in a direction with officers under admins (just because it’s a mess in DC with paperwork).
