So being the nut job I am I have decided that I am going to make my own armor.

Woo! Armor! Someday I'll make armor that isn't out of scraps. Post pictures of how it goes!

An hour of hammering tonight and all I achieved was the knowledge of why steel is no longer cut by cold chisel. A trip back to Lowe's for a hacksaw is in order.

two words - oxy-acetylene torch.
That'll get your steel cut. Trust me, 7 years of metal shop and you learn a thing or a billion

Yeah but I can't justify the cost of a torch, and if I did get my hands on one I would start cutting things with fire just to justify having a torch.
Oh and the best part of this project is my hands smell like steel.

nothing wrong with cutting random things with a torch, its fun.
but what is the gauge or thickness of this steel you are cutting anyway?
or even if you have or can get access to a power hacksaw that would make things go a lot smoother for you.

It's 16 gauge. I'm in no real hurry get it finished. I figure that even a hand saw will let me see enough progress to keep me focused with enough effort to make it feel like a real accomplishment.
