Sooo, I just got back from wal mart where I had a talk with Akirigano! What about this for a theme: Norse Creation myth!( www.angelfire.com/ca2/IsisShrine/Norsemyth.html ) We start out the day with pick up battles and stuff (unit battles, realm battles etc...) like last year after a short break it turns to the themed battles. The backs of tokens are painted either red or blue (fire or ice) this will determine your team. Specific scenarios used are to be determined, but I think it's a great theme for a winter battle! |

Haha, it's a lot of stuff to still do and I'm starting to get worried actually. I mean are we really set on Blue Spruce this year, or is there still questions about other places. The most important thing right now is decisions just need to start happening.
Just remember guys you can't always make everyone happy, but the show's gotta go on. Get some plans refine them as you go and stick to it, if it doesn't work out in the end you at least had a plan and went through with it. It's way better than throwing something together at the last min.
I've been on the other side of the planning coin. it's not fun a week before if you don't have solid plans, and didn't start getting things ready early enough. I'd be happy to have a meeting with you guys to show you how to plan for what numbers, how much to charge and what not.
My suggestion is use this (theme) as some momentum and keep rolling with it.

we are in contact with Blue Spruce to the extent of my knowledge and are planning it for Feb 20. once we figure out finance stuff we'll know how much we have to put in for food. Cost we'll figure out when we have a more solid idea of numbers which we'll have once we set a date for the event. We're shopping around looking for the best price on tags. Several of us have been advertising to other realms and units since last winter event and we intend on having several new attendees this year. Troll, weapons check, etc will be handled once more people volunteer so EVERYONE VOLUNTEER. As for housing we're all looking to put our personal contacts first on finding them a place to stay and everyone else is most likely going to have to get a motel or something. We wish we had more room for housing but we dont this year so everyone with their own place and some floor space, PLEASE be willing to house a few people. There is no room in the lodge for vendors and fighters so if anyone wants to vend it will likely have to be outside or out of their vehicle or something. Define "signage" and "side events" and i'll give an update to the best of my abilities involving those things. We're planning a few things for games but we dont have the funds to do anything fancy

Rides can be found by members of the realm. People need to start communicating with one anotherI'll start a thread for people to ask one another, but I and the rest of the admins will have very critical things to be getting done by the time people are asking for rides.
Troll Workers will depend on who volunteers
Times, well, Here's a rough draft:
Troll opens 10:00
Weapons Check: 10:30
Pick up battles 11:00
Field battles: 11:30
Short break 1:-1:30 ish
Themed battles 1:30 or 2:00 (this is a rough draft)
Feast: 4:30 - 5:00 I'll have to look at the recipes when we choose them to figure this out.

I may be buying some leather soon, probably January-ish. Do you guys already have the leather or would you want to just tag onto my purchase? It always ends up cheaper the more you buy at once. (speaking for tags)
Did this get posted to the National Boards yet? It should get up there as soon as possible, and are we doing 10 or 12 dollars this year?
My vote is always 10 pre reg for Maeth members and 12 for Maeth members at the door (if you can't get your money in early it's only fair). And of course 10 Flat for those coming from a distance (Morguinness and any in-realm distance travelers always give us the heads up long before hand so we don't charge them the 12).
There should be room for one or two vendors if you set the lodge up right, and they are an easy way to make some extra money (charging a vend fee of like 20 dollars).
