only about 1% of the U.S. population is allergic to gluten and all 3,038,246 (based on the July 2008 census) of them must be coming to the event. "Where's the beef?" quoted from the old lady on tv some years back.

People, People, I know my menu. The onion soup does not contain beef. I know of at least two people who are coming that have a gluten intolerance and wanted to warn them. Other people on the boards wanted to know.
Izad, the beef is right there below the lentil soup - Beef stew with oxtails. Remember the stuff I made for last Gates? It's that.
The soy isn't soy sauce, but some other soy product that's in the soup mix.
Cyrus - lol @ placenta. Makes me think of Vilkas's mom.

I received several emails from people on the national boards asking for the menu in advance because they had nut allergies or otherwise, I copied and pasted what I posted on the national boards to these.
Vors have you seen the size of the kitchen? There is going to be more than enough food, and hardly enough space. Please no body bring their own food unless they are doing so for medical-diet reasons.

Sorry Lucius I ment no offense to you skill as a meal planner when I questioned the soup mix. I just know when I cooked vegan it was easier for me to go all the way to scratch because animal products kept popping up every package I read. Milk eggs chicken gellitin who know they were everywhere in normal food.

from how it is written i thought you meant you replaced the beef with soy.
and also i know its text and it can be taken different ways, but how you have it written just sounds like you are talking down to me. Because i did see it right there below the lentil soup. because even though i didnt go to college, i can still read. thanks
and who puts soy in Beef Stew anyway?

we can probly swipe one of the grills outside and get it in cooking shape and serve meat outside and people can take it in. that way we avoid the issues of the size of the kitchen and how much room we have

If people want to bring charcoal that's fine, it would actually be kinda cool. I could use the dutch on one of those grills!

Izad - I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you thought that there was only soy in the soup. In this PC, vegan friendly world, I can see how you'd think that. But I won't let the vegans win dammit! Not only is there a fuckton of beef in that soup, but there's also Beer! Beer dammit!
You'd be surprised how many places soy turns up. In both the soup and the potatoes, it's an additive to improve flavor I guess. It's in the soup mix and the beef base that I used instead of bullion for the stew.
I didn't mean to talk down to you Izad, I just didn't understand why you were asking where the beef was when I thought I clearly stated that it was the primary ingredient in the stew. (but it looks like I didn't)
It took me a decent amount of thought to come up with this menu, figuring out options for vegans and vegetarians and people with a gluten allergy. Everyone was jumping on my case and I was defensive. Hopefully the sheer awesomeness of the food that Nova, Joleen and I cook for you will make up for it.
PS. This post really shouldn't be so long, but I'm working on like 3-4 hours of sleep. Cut me some slack
