Hey guys, Right now I'm a high school Senior making college decisions and one of the biggest considerations when choosing a college is A) Can I still attend my normal LARP or B) is there another LARP I could join if I go to this college. Since IUP, one of my top choices, is about 4 hours away from where I currently live option A is out of the picture. So, while frantically researching LARPing groups near Indiana Pennsylvania I came across this group. So now that I've explained why I barged into your forum I'll ask my burning questions that a quick overview of your site could not answer. ;D 1] Do you allow use of Latex Weapons? 2] Where can I find the races and folklore for your world? (I had difficulty navigating the site.) 3] What kind of system does the game use? (I already understand it doesn't use a call damage or magic system but am unsure if it uses deities or other systems I'm unfamiliar with.) 4] Is Dagorhir/Maethodoron more of a combat or RP LARP? 5] What makes Dagorhir/Maethodoron different from other LARPs? ~Thank you for your time Michelle Otte

www.dagorhir.com/That's the site for Dagorhir on an national level and should answer all your questions. I'll answer the five you currently have here though. 1. No. Dagorhir requires minimum striking edge widths and depths as well as cloth covers for all weapons. 2. Dagorhir was originally based heavily on Middle Earth but has since branched out. Think of Dag as a rules set for combat rather then a world setting. 3.Have you seen role models? We use that system of damage other then the fact that we kneel rather then hop when a leg has been taken. Haven't seen it, then rent and watch it it's a good flick. 4. Dag is a combat game with potential for role play by nature. Some groups focus more on the combat sport side some more on the RP side. Since I graduated from IUP just over a year ago I can't actually answer where Maethodoron falls on that spectrum. 5. Dag is big. It's a national organization. Actually we have people in Japan and Australia now so it's international. Dag also uses full force in combat. It's why we have safety requirements for the weapons. What area do you currently live in? There is a lot of Dagorhir groups in a four hour radius from IUP, you might be able to check out a group local to you to see if Dagorhir combat is something you are interested in. I would just like to add there are many reasons to attend IUP other then Maethodoron and many reasons to not attend IUP. While I understand wanting to find out about the LARP potential nothing is more important then deciding on a college that fits you best in all ways. I can not stress enough the importance of talking to current students when you visit campuses.

Eoin answered everything pretty well, but I want to reiterate that Dagorhir is definitely more combat based. While there's some roleplaying, it's "full contact medieval combat" as we like to say. On a weekly basis, we're definitely more combat based- not everyone can attend every practice in full garb.
