Does anyone use anything other than blue camping foam for shield padding?

I only use the blue camping foam. But if you really wanted to get in there with a shield i'd recommend that you put on a layer of some open cell probably just the 1" or .5" thick stuff. That way people wont freak out that you are smashing them with your shield that's only two layers of foam. Especially since we use a hard core opposed to some of the more popular all-foam cores that people like the GtG use.
I'd say the best way to go is the blue foam. That or the green open cell that you get from jo-anns. But that's it as far as i could tell.
I say the green foam from jo anns because you can buy it in long sheets to fit the shield and its more dense than the couch cushion foam.

There is that foam thread where I posted the link for the foam OOT uses for shields and it's pretty expensive, yes, but you can get more than one shield out of it.

and ive seen the stuff Nova is talking about, it is expensive but it is light as hell. it makes one of our shields feel like they are made out of 1" plywood covered in blue camping foam.

For those of you who do not know, hell is very, VERY light.
