Just wanted to thank everyone that Paragon, my son and I met today at practice at IUP. Everyone was way nice and I wanted to say I did enjoy the opportunity to see how everything works and get some ideas about creating a personna and fighting style. I look forward to joining the group and meeting everyone else in the near future. Thanks again.
Fyre.

yep, we had alot of fun watching you all beat each other with foam weapons.... This might seem a dumb/odd question, but what is the MAXIMUM distance you guys have to move to engage the other side in an army-type battle?

The other side of the field if the other army doesn't move, really you just need the opponent to be in range.

where im going with this is: im building a trebuchet. there is math involved. in order to get the launch arm to shoot right, i need 2 things.1: the weight of the projectile(1.5 lbs...max rock weight) and 2: the distance it needs to travel. because, while it would be cool to launch a rock 500 yards, it seems kinda pointless as it would not hit anything....

Im shooting for making it easily transportable. which means Id have to assemble it every time we take it somewhere....... Any regs on using modern bolts to keep it together?

There aren't any real official rules for siege weapons at all.

being that so few people make siege weapons, i dont think most weapons checkers will care how its made as long as it isnt too unhistorical, like made of plastic. it has to shoot a minimum of 20 feet, and cant hit anyone within that area. on the main page of maethodoron.com there is a resource page about siege (black) weapons that would give you alot of info about standards for the trebuchet. up side is that with black weapons, the size and weight requirements for the projectile go up so you can launch bigger things.
ha me and marus might finally have a reason to make our dismembering cow

the more i look into it, the more i think a trebuchet is the wrong way to go. an Onager, which could launch many projectiles at once seems better. Trebs fire too far for dag purposes(although it would look really cool).

The rules are not Dag-wide however, if I understand correctly, they were just one realms playtest rules. I'd ask around on the national board before making anything.

heh...my prototype onager, constructed in about 20 minutes from popsicle sticks and pencils fires glass beads around 20-30 feet. used standard yarn as my rope..... not very acurate, but my dogs were starting to get a little nervous, as the more i shot it, the better able to hit them was I....

dude, you're awesome i'm pumped that someone is seriously looking into seige weapons. nicky has always wanted to build one, but lack of time and resources has prevented that from happening. paragon, are you coming to gates of fire? if so, there should be plenty of people there to sit and discuss the rules with. if you come up with a prototype by then (which is not a lot of time) bring it along so we can test it. friday is mainly pickup battles around camp. so there will be plenty of time to play with some new toys!
