i use the same waterskin i think you're talking about when i'm out at parties since i dont drink. i just keep my own stash of water/ gatorade. normally at events i just get 2 jugs of gatorade, drink one the first day and use it for water the rest of the time. its best to get something that you dont mind if it breaks. a good metal mug works real well and is easy to hang from a belt when not in use.

hahaha. sounds amazing. so I saw on the site that there're alot of vendors and whatnot. Do they take debit/credit cards or only cash? and if only cash, are there going to be town-trips so we don't have to carry our life savings in a leather pouch?

Pre Registering online I think you can use a card (it may be through paypal or a similar system)

there are always lots of trips to towns, usually for walmart runs and for food that you dont have to prepare yourself. dont know if the vendors take anything but cash, but they usually have some awesome stuff to look at and say "damn i hate being poor".

like....oh, i don't know...a glass chalice that i happen to have in my cupboard? :-P never been to Rag, but have been to plenty of Pennsics. I assume the concept of nightly drunken revelry is roughly the same. when considering a drinking vessel, take into account durability. i personally use a leather drinking mug that has been sealed with bees wax. it's easy to wash, looks period, and won't be damaged if someone knocks it over or bumps into it, which is inevitable when carousing with large groups of people at night. anything glass, ceramic, or the like has a good chance being broken in that type of environment. if i brought something like that at all, it would be a strictly in-camp item.

yeah. i'm gunna start saving now since i'm working alot in the hopes that one of the vendors will have a sweet pair of drow-looking bracers for a fair price (since all of my character's weapons and armor are supposed to have been scavanged off people i've killed, such as drows, orcs, corsairs, etc.) as for the chalice, you raise a very good point, morguinness. i mean, i'm pretty composed and not knocking stuff over when i drink, but not everyone can have the constitution of an irishman. lol. i have a pewter beer stein around here somewhere that i'll bring, if i can find it. i can't seem to find alot of stuff, like my long-stemmed pipe or my thermal socks.

Some Vendors take credit/debit, but not all, luckily there are trips into town.

i think Rag is the same site as Pennsic now, right? that makes it easy for our pennsic people to get to the location so they can still afford to actually go to pennsic.
yeah, durable cup is the way to go if you dont have a drinking horn. the pewter should be fine as long as you dont lose it
i wanted to do the stolen armor idea too a while back but now i want to get into making my own.

Previously, I had absolutely no intention of going to Rag this year, but since it's at Cooper's Lake, I feel somewhat obligated considering that I have made daily pilgrimages there for Pennsic.
I didn't expect that Cooper's being so pro-SCA would allow Dag to use the Mecca of all SCA events for Rag, but I also think it's completely awesome.

So any one think about if we want our own site or not, I have to mail in soon who the camp master for our realm is, Or else... Tannhauser might getl annoyed with me.
